Special assistance at Terminal 3 DXB Airport

Special assistance at Terminal 3 is meant for people with special needs or impairments who need to board a flight or want to exit Dubai Airport. His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has recognised people with disabilities, People of Determination (PwD). The Dubai Airport is dedicated to providing the best services for PwDs.

Design of Dubai Airport T3 According to PwDs

You can be an eyewitness to the care for specially abled people in Dubai Airport, starting from the kerb to the main gate. The facilities and touchpoints like parking, toilets, elevators, lounges, seating, bus transfers, loading bridges, baggage collection and handling, and airport facilities are designed in such a way that a specially abled person can feel easy to use.

The design of DXB T3 is for people having both non-visible and visible disabilities. The passengers with limited mobility are also entertained in DXB T3. Even though there are signboards for people who are unable to read the words, for easy navigation.

How to Arrange Special Assistance At Dubai International Airport?

It is 4- 5km from DXB airport, and the booking rate starts from AED 210.45 and is in Port Saeed, Deira. The lunch and dinner prices start from AED 55. The nearest metro station from the Copthorne Hotel Dubai to T3 is Deira City Centre Metro Station (red line), which is an almost 2-3 minute walk from the hotel.

Assisted Check-ins: If a passenger wears a Sunflower lanyard, they can get special assistance at the check-in counter.

Note: You can collect the Sunflower lanyard at the Departure hall info desk, located before passport control in all terminals.

Dedicated Lanes: The fast-track style lanes are available for people at Passport control, security screening, and boarding areas.

Boarding Assistance: Boarding priority or flexibility is offered for PwDs; they can choose the option according to their ease
Trained Employees: The staff wear a sunflower badge/pin to assist passengers with disabilities.
Accessibility Support: Dedicated lanes, priority access, and specialised assistance are available free of charge—no documents required.

The Sunflower Lanyard is a globally recognized platform for people with hidden disabilities and contributes to airports worldwide.

Assistance for the Visually Impaired: The materials at the airport are tactile, rails are engraved, and the airport uses soft lighting as well.

Assistance For Hearing-Impaired Guests: The space is sound-absorbent, where people with hearing disabilities can hear muffled sounds.

Assistance for Autistic Passengers: The space is quiet, which helps autistic people to control their environment.

Medical Equipment: You can bring special medical equipment and mobility aids into the cabin as well.

What are the Details about Wheelchair Service At DXB T3?

The wheelchair service at DXB T3 is provided by the dnata team, which is ACAA-certified (US Air Carrier Access Act standards). The wheelchairs on departure from T3 are available from the kerbside through to the boarding gate. Similarly, if you arrive at the arrival gate, the attendants will meet you with pre-booked assistance.

Wheelchair Services included at T3 DXB Airport are:

Manual wheelchairs are available in 3 sizes (18”, 22”, 24”).
STAXI wheelchairs are also available with a baggage stowage area (27” x 39”).
Other services for physically impaired people include Leg support, infant safety belts, and buggy cars.

The wheelchairs for differently-abled people are provided free of charge. If passengers bring their own wheelchairs, they will be tagged. The dnata wheelchairs will only be provided for airport use.

Customs Declaration Support for Specially Abled at DXB T3

There are dedicated Dubai Customs counters in Arrivals and Departures across all terminals, where the PwD guests can request customs inspection assistance and clearance for goods. There is also an app called the iDeclare app that you can download, log in to, and add details of the goods by sitting at home.
